CiNews: 2,000 Dublin pilgrims preparing for Lourdes

On the 7th of September pilgrims from all over Dublin will journey to Lourdes for the 62nd annual Dublin Diocesan Pilgrimage. Below is an excerpt from an article from CiNews about this event.

“Five hundred volunteers, who will take part in the Dublin diocesan pilgrimage to Lourdes in just over  a week’s time, attended a special Blessing of Hands ceremony in Dublin on Sunday, though many of them had to give up their tickets for the Dublin and Donegal game in order to be there.

Nearly 2,000 pilgrims are making their final preparations for the journey to Lourdes.  The group includes 640 volunteers, 55 nurses, 9 doctors and 180 sick people.  Another 145 young people from 22 schools across the diocese of Dublin will also travel as helpers to care for the sick.  Representatives of Crosscare, the social care agency of the Diocese, are also taking part. The volunteers will take sick pilgrims, many in wheelchairs, to the Marian Shrine in the south of France and will attend them during their stay there from September 7 through 12.
